Reflecting on the Literature

It is so easy to get caught up in the logistics of literary analysis— identifying themes, dissecting characters, and interpreting symbols. While these skills are important , there's another, often overlooked aspect of literary analysis that is just as important: reflection.   Reflection is the process of looking back on what you've read, thought about, and written. It involves considering how your understanding connects to the world and how it has influenced your personal growth. Critical thinking is crucial for maintaining a functioning society. This idea has always guided my teaching, but the things   I ha ve explored in t his master’s program have reinforced just how vital it is .   Vital for individuals and society. As educators, it's our responsibility to ensure that our students can think independently and critically about the world around them. Without these skills, they—and society—are at risk.     A significant issue in today’s world is how prone people are to accept information from media outlets as fact without conducting their own research. This lack of critical thinking leads to misinformation and poor decision-making. Reflections and Refractions

In today’s rapidly changing world, our understanding of literature must evolve beyond traditional boundaries. While many people still associate literature with fiction, essays, and poetry, this narrow definition overlooks a vast array of other expressive forms that are just as important.  Songs, movies, blogs, and some aspects of social media are all a part of this new landscape that meets at the junction of technology and literature.  As the world around us transforms, the literary world must keep pace, embracing these new forms just as we have embraced novels, plays, and poetry.   For instance, film scripts should be viewed as modern-day plays—after all, ​ we all ​ ​ remember reading Shakespeare in high school ​ .
